马来西亚五金机械建材联合总商会宣布，在洽询政府后，五金机械建材被定义为“非必需品”，因此必须遵守指示暂停营业。

该会阐明，在暂停营业期间，员工属于放有薪假。

“有鉴于此，本会促请所有会员遵从指示，从3月18日(星期三）起暂停办公室操作及店面营业，必要时在家工作，直至3月31日(星期二）,为期两周。”

该会周二在文告中表示，其他细节则有待政策明朗后另行通知。

“最后，恳请会员商家叮嘱员工注意个人卫生，避免外出或聚会，共同抗疫。”
