财政部长林冠英说，为了尊重人民在去年大选的委托，政府无意恢复6%的消费税（GST）制。

林冠英今日在下议院提呈2020年财政预算案时说，政府在抑制通货膨胀方面非常成功。

他指出，政府在2018年6月取消GST，并在同年9月以销售及服务税（SST）取代之后，国家通膨率降到自2007年来的新低，预计2019年全年通膨率为0.9%。

“相比2018年的1%及2017年的3.7%，2019年上半年的通膨率仅仅0.2%。很明显的前朝政府推行6%的GST导致严重的物价高涨。”
