突尼斯总理沙海德办公室周五表示，“基于安全原因”，沙海德决定禁止穆斯林妇女在所有政府办公室穿戴覆盖面部的尼卡布。

外电报道，总理办公室指出，沙海德签署一份政府公告，宣告“基于安全原因，禁止任何遮盖脸部者进入公共机关和机构”。

首都突尼斯6月27日发生2起自杀炸弹攻击，造成2人死亡、7人受伤后，突尼斯维安升级，如今又发出尼卡布（niqab）禁令。穿戴尼卡布者会遮盖全脸，仅留下双眼示人。

突尼斯内政部2014年2月指示警方加强对尼卡布的管理，借此加强反恐，以防有心人士用此伪装，躲避查缉。
