财政部长林冠英宣布，今年3月1日起，政府将降低外劳延长服务人头税，为期一年。

他说，中央政府了解到商家在面对全球情况不稳定的挑战下，在上周三（20日）的内阁会议中，决定从3月1日起降低外劳人头税，为期一年，以便减轻雇主的负担。

他今日发文告指，制造业、服务业（餐厅及清洁）及建筑业的外劳延长服务人头税，将从1万令吉减低至6000令吉；农业及种植业将从3500令吉减低至2000令吉。

至于女佣的延长服务人头税则维持原状，没有变动。

财政部在去年提呈2019年财政预算案时建议，让业者可以为工作超过10年的外劳延长服务期限长达3年，而业者必须为外劳承担人头税。
