当地时间周五7时傍晚，纽约市民在遵守社交距离的状况下，暂时自发“站”出来约2分钟，纷纷在自家阳台还有窗口，隔空鼓掌及加油打气，而他们所感激的对象是所有“必要工作者”。

即便新冠肺炎疫情严峻，“必要工作者”依旧在台前幕后默默耕耘，他们包括前线医护人员、警员、消拯员、杂货店员工，餐饮工作者、送货员、媒体、甚至是你我他的亲友、邻居还有同事等。

纽约市民们是在响应#ClapBecauseWeCare活动，以表扬“必要工作者”在这个特殊时期的为社会做出的各项贡献。

#ClapBecauseWeCare这个概念最初由欧洲与英国民众发起，为抗疫前线的医护人员们鼓掌和吹口哨，以表达敬意、支持，还有感激之情。
