旧金山宣布封城，而封城令从周二午夜生效，这也让旧金山成为全美第一个封城的城市。

旧金山市长伦敦布里德宣布，封城将于周二午夜开始，人们被禁止离开家中，除非必要外出去看医生或去必要购买商品。

目前，该规定为三周，它将持续到4月7日，布里德将其称为“关键时刻”。

而同一天，包括纽约、新泽西和康州三州州长在内联合召开了发布会。

发布会上纽约州长库默联合新泽西州长墨菲和康州州长Ned Lamont，共同宣布三州联动，当地时间周一晚8时开始，禁止50人以上集会，同时将关闭所有酒吧、餐馆、电影院、健身房、赌场等娱乐场所，直到进一步通知。
