槟州两个月内爆发2宗“假酒致命”事件，截至目前共有6人因假酒内的甲醇中毒而身亡，另7人仍在医院接受治疗。

这13人分别是2名大马人、9名缅甸籍外劳、1名尼泊尔籍外劳及1名印度籍外劳，至于因甲醇中毒而身亡者则是2名大马人、3名缅甸籍外劳及1名印度籍外劳。

东北县警区主任仄再玛尼助理总监周一在该警区召开记者会时说，警方事后在光大区一名餐馆内，逮捕一名44岁售卖假酒的缅甸籍外劳。

“警方也在该店货仓内，起获大批已包装好的假酒及没有标签的酒类。这批假酒根据目前世面上售卖的真酒来做包装，其售价却比真酒便宜一半。”
